From the academic year 2012-2013 onwards, we have started a undergraduate programme to provide Actuarial platform for students from various streams. This is a three year full time programme which includes all the basics of Actuarial field, which leads to fellow of Indian Institute of Insurance & fellow of Institute of Actuaries of India.

The subjects being taught under the programme are:

  • Mathematical Statistics
  • Micro Economics
  • Basic Accounting Concept
  • Introduction to Mortality and Markov Chains
  • Stochastic Process
  • Mathematics of Finance
  • Discrete Mathematics
  • Operations Research
  • Basis of Life Contingencies
  • Applied statistics using statistical software & Ms-Excel

Bishop Heber College is the first college in Asia to offer this programme. The programme has been specially designed to reduce the time to qualify as an Actuary. The CT series of the Actuarial papers of Actuaries, U.K., included in the curriculum are,

  • CT 1 Financial Mathematics
  • CT 2 Finance and Financial Reporting
  • CT 3 Probability and Mathematical Statistics
  • CT 4 Models
  • CT 5 Life and Health Contingencies
  • CT 6 Statistical Methods
  • CT 7 Economics
  • CT 9 Business Awareness Module

In addition to these core papers, there are Actuarial Risk Management, Pension Policy, and Financial Management of life office. Independent project works are done by the students. Seminars and Guest lectures by the Actuarial professionals are an integral part of the programme.

Actuarial skills are of the great value in any business managing long term financial projects both in public and private sectors. This prestigious institution introduced PGDAS in 1991, and has been running it efficiently and successfully till date, attracting students not only from other states but also from other countries. This is a one - year programme that starts in the month of July and ends in May of the following year. The subjects taught under the course are:
