Dr.D.Paul Dhayabaran

Dr. D.Paul Dhayabaran is the Principal of Bishop Heber College, Trichy and he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics. He was born on September 15th, 1963. He successfully completed M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics), PGDCA and M.Phil. (Mathematics) at Bishop Heber College, Trichy. He finished his Ph.D. at the National Institute of Technology, Trichy. His educational qualifications include a Certificate Course on German language at Maxmuller Bhavan, Chennai. He has held various positions as Bursar and Programme Officer in the National Service Scheme.

Dr. Paul Dhayabaran’s areas of specialization are Differential Equations, Computational Mathematics, Operational Research and Graph Theory. He has been teaching for twenty five years in Bishop Heber College, Trichy. He has an overseas teaching experience of about three years and eight months, having worked in Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Dubai. He has visited different countries, namely, Singapore, UAE, United Kingdom, France and the United States of America.

Dr. Paul Dhayabaran has published fifteen papers in reputed International Journals. He has published three papers in the proceedings of International conferences. He has attended six International and nine National Conferences, Workshops and Symposiums. He has attended four Refresher, Orientation and Short term courses as well. He has published one book entitled Remedial Mathematics for the B.E. Biotech Students at BITS, Dubai. He has also carried out Collaborative Research along with his Research Guide, Dr. K. Murugesan (NITT) and Dr. D.J. Evans, Professor of Computing, Nottingham Trent University, UK, and has published seven papers. He has successfully guided one scholar towards his Ph.D. and has been guiding three students for their Ph.D. degrees. Five of his wards have completed their M.Phil under his guidance.

Dr. Paul Dhayabaran’s extra-curricular activities include Music and Elocution (at school). He represented his school in Hockey and also participated and won prizes in Staff Tennis and cricket Tournaments.

Dr. Paul Dhayabaran’s firm attitude towards the academic rigor promoted the institution to rank IV among Arts and Science colleges in India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development through NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework). His competence and ability enveloped with a mission lead the college to greater heights like being recognized by the UGC as “College of Excellence” the first among the affiliated Colleges in Bharathidasan University to hold the title. He is a humble leader. He has great passion for teaching. With immense vision he leads Bishop Heber College, Trichy.

Prof. A. ALAGAPPA MOSES is an Associate Professor and Head in the Post Graduate and Research Department of Environmental Sciences, Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli since 6 th August 1986 to till date.

He is a Functional Area Expert accredited by the Quality Council of India (QCI) – National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET) as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Empanelled Functional Area Expert (FAE) in the field of Ecology and Biodiversity (EB) for Category ‘A’ Projects.

He is a member of the District Environmental Impact Assessment Authority (DEIAA) for grant of Environmental Clearance for “B2” projects for mining of minor minerals in Tiruchirappalli District.

He served as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator in Integrated Environmental Research Programme on River Cauvery (1989 to 1992), Inventory of Point and non-Point sources of Pollution in River Cauvery from Hogainackal to Poompuhar (1990 – 1992), Water Quality Monitoring Programme in River Cauvery (1997 – 2003) and Environmental Assessment of Kalrayan Hills using RS and GIS, Eastern Ghats, Tamilnadu (1999 – 2002) sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Govt. of India, New Delhi and Pudukkottai Fishermen Community Development Project (1991 – 1994) sponsored by World Vision of India.

He served as the Co-Ordinator – India in the project “United Board Heber Partnership for Environmental Action” a joint project of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, Hong Kong and Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli from 2009 to 2016. He has

He has organized several Capacity Building Programmes in Campus Environmental Audit (CEA) / Green Audit and conducted / facilitated Campus Green Audit for various Colleges, Universities and Schools.

His special fields of interest include Ecology and Biodiversity, Wastewater Engineering, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Audit and Environmental Management. He has delivered several lectures in various academic forums and has organized several Environmental Conferences, Workshops and Seminars at National and International level. He has published 4 books and more than 85 research papers in reputed journals.

He was a Guest faculty teaching Environmental Impact Assessment for M. Tech Environmental Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli from January to May 2017.

He has participated in several Environmental Management programmes in The Netherlands (1987), France (1987), Italy (1987) USA (1998) and Thailand (2010) and underwent courses in Land Resources, Conservation biology, Global Environmental Development and Environmental Sustainability in Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies, Michigan, USA and Watershed Management in Alabama, USA.

Dr. F. Samuel Christopher

Dr. F. Samuel Christopher has been working in this Institution since 1982. He has done his B. Sc, M. Sc and M. Phil at St. Joseph’s College, Trichy and obtained Ph.D. at the Bharathidasan University, Trichy.

His areas of interest are Plant Morphogenesis, Plant Cell and Molecular Biology. So far he has published 6 papers in reputed journals and authored chapters in 2 books. 12 students have done their project under him for their M. Phil degree. He is also a regular visitor to neighbouring colleges in Trichy to deliver lectures on topics of current interest in Botany.

Besides Botany he is also interested in music and games. He has been the staff in charge for the college Fine Arts team for 12 years. He is a tenor singer in “Singspirations” a leading choir in Trichy. He is a good tennis player.

Dr. A. Umesh Samuel Jebaseelan

A. Umesh Samuel Jebaseelan holds currently the post of Additional Vice Principal – Projects in Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli. He served as Dean (IQAC) for 10 years from September 2005 to May 2015. He also served as a Dean of Research and Development for the period June 2015 to May 2020. As a Teaching faculty he served as Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work, in Bishop Heber College for more than three decades. Dr.A.Umesh Samuel was a University Rank holder in MSW and has the credit of having received the first PhD degree awarded from Bharathidasan University in Social Work Discipline in 1995. He has over 33years of teaching experience in MSW and 25years in MBA,20 years in M.Phil and 22 years in PhD. He is a recognized guide for guiding MBA programme.He has published 96 research articles in the refereed and peer reviewed national and international journals. He has authored three books, viz., ‘Recent Trends in Social Science Research’, ‘A Handbook on Softwares for Social Science Research’ and “Recent Trends in Humanities and Social Sciences”

He is a recipient of many awards like Tamilnadu State Award for Best NSS officer (1998), Bharathidasan University Best NSS officer Award (2000) and Best Researcher Award five times (2009 , 2013 , 2014 , 2017 & 2018 ) .He has also received “Best Faculty Award in Humanities – 2013” and also received a cash award of Rs 10,000/ = from Nehru group of Institutions Coimbatore. He also received “Outstanding Faculty Award in Social Work” from Venus International Foundation in the year 2015. Recently, he received “International Best Researcher in Social Work” from RULA Research Peace Award of 2019 accredited by World Research Council in the month of August’19.

As a Research Advisor/Guide for guiding research work leading to the award of PhD degree, he has to his credit of 29 candidates awarded PhD degree in Social Work (one in Management) and more than 72 candidates awarded for M.Phil Degree. He has the credit of producing highest PhD in Social Work discipline in Tamil Nadu which is noteworthy to mention for which he received ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from the Bishop Heber College Management.

He had been to Liverpool Hope University, UK twice to deliver lectures to the students of Social Work discipline. He served as a Project Lead,DelPHE Project,Sponsored by British Council – a collaborative research Project between Bishop Heber College, Stella Maris college, Chennai, Madras Christian College, Chennai and Liverpool Hope University, UK. He served as Honorary Project Director for Institute for Applied Social Sciences (IASS) - a UK based research Institute from 2008 – 2011.He also visited Hong Kong and Malaysia in May and August 2018 for sharing his expertise in Research in the International conferences Organized by Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong and Putura University, Malaysia.

He also served as Hon. Project Director for the GFATM round 7 –An International funded Project to train HIV Counsellors in Tamilnadu, Pondicherry and Kerala and received a grant of more than 3.5 Croes from the Global Fund and recently he received a grant of 17,500 US Dollars from United Board, Asia for training the Post Graduate Students, Research Scholars and Faculty Members in Social Science disciplines on the theme “Recent Trends in Social Science Research: An Interdisciplinary Approach” Subsequently in the year 2018 he received a grant of 10,200 US $ for another Project from United Board , Asia titled “Academic and Administrative Audit in Pursuit of Excellence in Higher Education”

He had the credit of being the NAAC Steering Committee Coordinator twice for the Re-accreditation 2nd Cycle and 3rd cycle where Bishop Heber College was graded A + in the 2nd cycle and A (3.58 CGP) in the 3rd cycle.

Dr. G. Gnanaraj

Dr.Gnanaraj is an alumnus of the college doing his B.A. in Corporate Secretaryship during 1981-84. He did his schooling from the Sainik School, Amaravathi nagar, and his post graduation in Commerce from the PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. He did his Ph.D. in Commerce as a Junior Research Fellow of the UGC from the Madurai Kamaraj University.

He joined Bishop Heber in 2000 January, prior to which he was working in Bishop Thorp College, Dharapuram. He has published and presented papers in conferences and seminars and has coauthored a book on 'Financial Services'. His area of specialization is Organisational Behavior and his Ph.D. was on Job Stress.
